Candice joined our office as an articled student in May 2014. She was called to the British Columbia bar in May 2015. Candice grew up in the sunny Okanagan and moved to the Lower Mainland in 2006. Her husband grew up in the Lower Mainland and both now reside here with their young son.
Candice graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. While finishing her undergraduate degree, Candice worked as a legal assistant which led her to pursue a law degree. She worked hard to pay her own way through her postsecondary education and proudly graduated as a part of the inaugural class at the Faculty of Law at Thompson Rivers University with her post graduate Juris Doctor Degree in 2014.
For over 12 years, Candice has worked with Russell Tretiak, Q.C. in his discrete family law practice, First Law Corporation. She began as a filing clerk and worked her way to becoming Russell’s legal assistant until she left to attend law school in 2011. She returned to First Law Corporation to complete her articles and is now a litigation solicitor in Russell’s practice.
As a litigation solicitor, Candice works closely with Russell to draft and prepare materials for use in court or mediation. She attends some court matters, including mediations, but is generally in the office as she prefers working one-on-one with clients to prepare them for the dispute resolution process. As a result, she is readily accessible to her clients to facilitate a resolution that is both economical and satisfactory.
